Fort Pierre Firefighters Up Against Rough Country, Weather In Battling Washington Wildfires

GREEN RIDGE, WA — A team of Fort Pierre volunteer firefighters continue working a wildfire in Washington State. The team is working an overnight shift on the Green Ridge fire approximately 30 miles east of Walla Walla. The fire has grown to 11-thousand 449 acre with 382 personnel working the blaze. Alan Taylor is deputy incident commander with California Team 12 and says crews are working in a difficult area…

Taylor says they are even using drones to help fight the fire…

Weather conditions on Wednesday don’t appear to be doing firefighters any favors…

The Green Ridge Fire is being fought with a second fire that started at the same time, the Lick Fire. The Lick Fire is over 80-thousand acres, but is 90-percent contained. The Green Ridge Fire is 15-percent contained and is not expected to be fully contained until early September.
