The Sully Buttes Chargers and Gettysburg Battlers are meeting for the third time this season tonight, this time with the season on the line in the first round of the 6B volleyball playoffs.
It’s the second straight year the Chargers and Battlers are meeting for a third time in the same season, and last year the Chargers won both regular season matches before the Battlers won the third match. However, this year, it’s for a spot in the 6B quarterfinals on Tuesday. Sully Buttes has taken a set in each match against the Battlers but lost 2-1 on August 29 and 3-1 on September 29 with the second one being a regular season contest in Gettysburg. The 3-23 Chargers and 12-18 Battlers will meet back at the Gettysburg gym tonight. Gettysburg beat Leola/Fredrick Area in five sets to close out the season and the Chargers lost in a quick sweep against Mobridge-Pollock. Seniors Tahnie Yellowhawk, Ally Buhler and Tomi White are looking to extend their volleyball careers for at least another day. The winner of tonight’s match will travel to Faulkton on Tuesday to take on the Faulkton Area Trojans, the two seed in 6B.
Coverage tonight begins around 6:40 on Country 95.3 and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports with first serve at 7:00. Wyatt Burichka will have the call.
