The Pierre Governor volleyball team didn’t have an answer to the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles, particularly in the serve as the Golden Eagles would sweep the Govs Tuesday night in Aberdeen.
Scores of the match would be 25-6, 25-11 and 25-11 as Aberdeen Central jumped out to an 11-0 lead before the Governors would get on the board. In set two, with the score tied at 2-2, Aberdeen Central would go on for a 6-0 run to control the second set again. Julia Malsam had seven aces in the first set and finished with a match high 13 of the 22 the Golden Eagles would have. Aberdeen Central had nine aces in the first set, seven in the second and six in the third. Pierre had just two aces and only nine kills in the match led by Addison Novotny and Evie Doyle. Lauryn Burckhard had a match high nine kills while Alivia Miller had six. Burckhard also had four aces. The win improves Aberdeen Central to 15-9 while the Governors are 1-18 with just two games remaining.
The Governors will host the Huron Tigers and Harrisburg Tigers on Tuesday and Thursday next week. Coverage of both matches will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
