(Onida, SD) – The Sully Buttes Chargers volleyball team would fall in three sets (25-8, 25-15, and 25-12) on Tuesday against Herreid/Selby Area. With the loss, the Chargers are 3-21 on the season and will head to Hitchcock-Tulare on Friday to begin the rest of the season as road warriors.
The Chargers could not generate any offense only counting for one kill in the first set while Herreid/Selby would record 14 in set one. The Wolverines would run out to a big early lead and never let the Chargers charge back for a comeback attempt.
Sully Buttes would keep things close in the early second set trading points for the first 11-11. But that would be as close as Sully Buttes got to taking a lead and holding on with the Wolverines jumping out to 17-11 and finishing the set 25-15.
The third set was similar to the first set. A big start for Herreid/Selby Area getting out to a 7-0 lead and never looking back. Sully Buttes would have short runs but not long enough to get back into the third set and falling 25-12.
The Wolverines would finish with 36 kills to just 4 for Sully Buttes. Herreid/Selby would also record seven aces to just one for the Chargers.
Sully Buttes (3-21) would look to finish the regular season with a couple of wins starting Friday against Hitchcock-Tulare before ending the regular season on the road in Mobridge. The next broadcast on Country 95.3 for Sully Buttes Volleyball will be on Tuesday in Mobridge.
