The Pierre Governor volleyball team has six games remaining in the season and half of those games will be played this week, starting with the Watertown Arrows in town tonight.
The Governors have to grab some wins down the stretch of the season as the chances are dwindling for Pierre to reach the SoDak 16. After the loss to the Brookings Bobcats on Thursday, Pierre is now 1-13 and near three points back of 16th place in the standings. However, Pierre can grab a lot of seed points over the final six games with five of the six teams over .500, but it also means the difficulty of the teams are going to be high. Watertown is coming in at 12-6 on the season after beating Huron in four sets last Thursday in Huron. The Arrows are in seventh place in the AA standings and while it looks like they’re safe to be hosting a SoDak 16 game barring a late season collapse, they would like to climb the standings to finish out the year. First year head coach Havyn Heinz has the Arrows winning five of the last six with the one loss to the top team Harrisburg.
Coverage tonight begins at 6:00 with first serve scheduled for 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
