PIERRE, (KCCR) — A light agenda comes before the Pierre City Commission tonight. Only four items of new business make up the agenda with a five-item consent calendar. The calendar consists of the regular minutes and claims and three new hires. Two of the new hires are for the Parks Department with one for the Engineering Department. As for new business, Commissioners will consider a street closure request for the Thriller Dance Flash Mob on North Washington Avenue for Halloween and a change order and final pay application for the 2026 Slurry Seal project. First reading will be given to a new ordinance on Personal Electronic Vehicles after taking weeks of public input from stakeholders and second and final reading will be given to help finalize the 2027 utility rate ordinances, setting a five-percent increase for water, wastewater and electricity for next year. Commissioners will close out the meeting by presenting any dialogue they may have. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 pm at the Pierre Municipal Building. The meeting is open to the community.
