PIERRE, (KCCR) — A woman from Fort Thompson and man from Lower Brule have been sentenced on separate charges related to distributing drugs on the Crow Creek and Lower Brule Indian Reservations. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says 29 year-old Logan Marks and 29 year-old Dalton Erickson pleaded guilty in July to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Aiding and Abettng. Parsons did not say which charge applies to which defendant. Marks was sentenced to three years in prison with three years of supervised release. Erickson was sentenced to a six year prison term and four years of supervised release. Both were also fined one-thousand dollars. Parsons says in March of 2024, the pair was stopped by Tribal law enforcement while driving through Lower Brule. Erickson was driving and Marks a passenger at the time. A drug-detection canine picked up on a telltale sign inside the car. A search of the vehicle uncovered 97 and a-half grams of pure methamphetamine in the car’s engine compartment.
