For the final time in the regular season, the Pierre Governor football team will be at home as the Govs host the Spearfish Spartans looking to move to 7-0 on the year.
The Governors are coming off its fifth running clock win last week, beating the Huron Tigers 45-14 and will face the 4-2 Spartans tonight as the log jam continues for third through eighth in the standings. Pierre sits at the top spot with the Tea Titans having one loss, but everybody else has two or three losses from 3-8 and a win or loss can drastically change the standings for someone like the Spartans who are wanting at least a home game in the first round of the playoffs coming up in three weeks. The Spartans had its four game winning streak stopped last week in a 42-21 loss to Yankton in Spearfish. Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors says though, this Spartans team is filled with a lot of good athletes…
This is the final home game of the regular season and senior night for the Governors and Steele says this is one of the biggest senior classes he’s had…
Steele says they have to contain the speedsters tonight…
Coverage tonight begins at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 from Hollister Field in Pierre on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
