The Sully Buttes Chargers and Timber Lake Panthers are both coming into tonight’s game at 6-0, at the top of the 9A standings and have no plans of losing for the first time this season.
The Chargers have had the tougher schedule by a slim margin as Sully Buttes sits in first place in the 9A standings with three other undefeated teams in 9A. The Panthers defense is stout. After allowing 20 and 24 points in the first two games of the season, Timber Lake has allowed just 31 points in total over the last four games. The offensive production hasn’t quite been there for Timber Lake, but with the defense, the offense hasn’t been pressured into scoring. Meanwhile, the Chargers, at 6-0, are coming in after its 34-14 win over Herreid/Selby Area last Friday and 22-12 over Gettysburg the previous week. Sully Buttes has been able to put up the offensive numbers, but the defense remains firm leaving this game a potential to be a defensive slugfest. Tom Moore, head coach of the Sully Buttes Chargers says it’s an exciting week to see both teams come in undefeated this late into the season…
Some of those challenges the Chargers will face is the defense not giving up a lot of points and the offense, Moore says, that likes to run the football…
Moore says they have to be physical upfront tonight…
Coverage of the 6-0 matchup will begin at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on Country 95.3 and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports with Wyatt Burichka on the call.
