The Pierre Governor volleyball team had to wait until nearly 8:45 central time to play its match against the Douglas Patriots on Thursday in Box Elder, but the wait would be worth it in the four set win over the Patriots.
Scores in the match would be 25-22, 25-27, 25-19 and 25-13 grabbing the first win of the season. Pierre’s third set win propelled the Govs to winning set four and taking the match. Hannah Eads would reach double digit kills and lead the night in the attacking column with 11 kills while Ally Keyes had eight and both Evie Doyle and Ellie Olivier each had seven. It would be the best attack by far for the Governors on the season as they improve to 1-8 while Douglas falls to 3-12.
The Governors will be back on the road next week Thursday when they take on the Mitchell Kernels. Coverage will begin at 6:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
