Porter Hunsley made the most of his five carries and one catch scoring five touchdowns as the Pierre Governor football team powered past the Watertown Arrows 55-14 Friday night in Watertown.
Hunsley’s total yardage would look rather pedestrian, but what he did when he got the ball was nearly be unstoppable. Hunsley ran for 56 yards on five carries and had a touchdown catch of 10 yards for only 66 all-purpose yards, but he couldn’t be stopped when given the chance. Including on defense where he had an interception which set up his first touchdown run of the game from eight yards out on the very next play. Hunsley also had a seven, 16 and 11 yard touchdown runs on the day as Pierre built a 34-14 lead at the break. Jerren Deal would go 17-21 passing for 235 yards and two scores, the other going to Carter Schiefelbein on a fingertip catch for 39 yards. Deal also had 130 yards on the ground including a 61 yard touchdown scamper. Pierre built the 55-14 lead at the end of the third quarter to enact the running clock and improve to 4-0, all by running clock victories. The Governor defense would hold Watertown to just 168 yards and one offensive score. Watertown falls to 2-2 on the season.
Pierre will meet the Tea Titans on Friday night in the Govs Homecoming game as both teams clash at 4-0 on the season. Coverage will begin at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
