PIERRE, (KCCR) — Absentee balloting for November’s general election begins today. There are plenty of obvious and not so obvious races on ballots across central South Dakota. Area legislative races include Democrat Chas Jewett versus Republican incumbent Jana Hunt in District 28-A Split Districts 26-A and B have races with Democrat Eric Emery and Republican Ron Fredrick in A and Democrat Lewis Grassrope and Republican Angie Hanzlik in B. The District 27 House race is a five-for-two race with Republican incumbent Liz May and four Independents Jay Yohner, Joe Flood, Liz Lone Eagle and Evangline Poor Bear. District 23 has a three-way House race with Republicans Dick Werner and Spencer Gosch and Independent Garett Heinz. On the Senate side in District 27, Republican Anthony Kathol takes on Independent Peri Pourier and Democrat Celestine Stadnick. In District 26, Republican Rebecca Reimer will face Democrat Shawn Bordeaux. In District 21 Democrat Dan Andersson is challenging incumbent Mykala Voita. Area county races will be featured Monday.
