PHILIP, (KCCR) — Work began yesterday in Haakon County on a section of U-S Highway 14 near Philip. A Missouri contractor won the 270-thousand dollar bid for bridge deck chip sealing on two bridges near Philip. Both bridges are west of the South Dakota Highway 73/U-S Highway 14 intersection in Philip. The first bridge is a mile west of the intersection with the second four and-a-half miles west of Philip. The project includes repairing concrete and placing a polymer chip seal coating on the bridge surfaces. The work will depend on weather conditions near the project site. Traffic on Highway 14 will be controlled during the work with stops signs in each direction of travel. Drivers should be prepared for slowing or stopped traffic and be alert for construction workers and their equipment next to the road. The work is expected to be completed by mid-October and has an overall completion date of October 31st.
