PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre School Board is holding its September meeting tonight. Board members will consider approval of an eight-item consent calendar before hearing comments from Superintendent Dr. Donavan DeBoer. Board and public comments will follow along with the first update of the 2026-27 school year by the Riggs Student Senate. A brief agenda of action items make up the September meeting. Board members will consider approval of donations, contract items, an administrative rule waiver, out-of-district open enrollments and considering approval of surplus property. The Pierre School Board meets tonight at 5:30 pm at the District Administration Building on Poplar Avenue.
Pierre School Board Vice President Jessica Lewis has been appointed to the Associated School Boards of South Dakota Board of Directors. Lewis is representing the Central Region for A-S-B-S-D, which includes schools with enrollment of 15-hundred to 10-thousand students. Lewis has previous experience with the A-S-B-S-D, serving as the Pierre School Board’s Delegate to the Association’s Assembly. Executive Director Heath Larson says the group is thrilled to have Lewis join the Board and is looking forward to working with her and benefiting from her perspective on education.
