The Pierre Governor soccer teams went on the road on Saturday, for only the second road game of the season as the Governor girls remain undefeated with a 3-1 win while the boys fall 2-0.
The Governor boys would be shutout for the second straight game, but being 2-0 finals as the Govs have dropped three straight and are 1-5-2. Brandon Valley grabbed its second win to move to 2-3-2. Pierre’s offense has struggled over the last three contests scoring just one goal after winning 4-0 to Mitchell.
The Governor girls are now 8-0 and remain one of the two undefeated teams with Harrisburg as the Govs would get goals from Aubrey Fischer, Devyn Van Roekel and Sophia Brueggeman. Fischer and Lexie Hillmer each had assists in the win as Emlyn Swanson grabbed three saves for Pierre. The Govs defense was sound, holding off around eight corner kicks from the Lynx with the last one resulting in the Lynx lone goal. Pierre has been averaging only about two corners per game until the Saturday game.
The Governors remain on the road on Tuesday as the Govs take on the Tea Area Titans with the girls playing at 4:00 and the boys game to follow at Tea high school.
