The Pierre Governor soccer teams finish out its long four game homestand today as the Governors host the Brookings Bobcats in a boys and girls doubleheader.
The Governor girls look to remain undefeated at 6-0 on the season as the Govs are in second place in the AA standings behind undefeated Harrisburg who is 8-0. However, it will be a good challenge today as Brookings is coming in at 4-2-1 on the season and in seventh place in the AA standings. The Bobcats have losses to Stevens and O’Gorman and a tie with Brandon Valley and are 0-1-1 in those last two games. The Bobcats have outscored its opponents 19-13 in the first seven games of the year. Brookings will look to play a high scoring game while Pierre has only allowed three goals all season. The Governors have allowed just one goal in the last four games, in the 3-1 win over Spearfish on Saturday.
The boys game will feature the Bobcats who are just 3-2 on the season having two different games postponed to this point. The Bobcats had its Tea matchup postponed and then started the second half against Brandon Valley, tied 0-0 before weather forced the game to be postponed. However, Brookings beat O’Gorman 2-1 to move to 3-2 and have won back-to-back games. Pierre would drop its Saturday game 2-1 to Spearfish, the first loss in the last four games as the Govs look to continue playing well at the midway point of the season. This game is the exact midway spot of the season with six games completed and six games remaining after today.
The girls will have kickoff first at 4:00 with the boys game to follow at the PILC Fields in Pierre.
