The Bennett County Warriors didn’t get to use their speed like they would probably like to do, but would still knock off the Stanley County Buffaloes 24-6 Friday night in Martin.
The Buffalo defense stood tall against the athletes of Bennett County forcing the Warriors to use long drives and stalled out several drives allowing just the three touchdowns on the night. However, the offense struggled to find the end zone coming up short of going to 2-1 on the season. The Warriors would take an 8-0 lead in the first as Kade Harris would find Hayden Risse in the end zone rolling out to his right. Rush O’Neill would score from inside the five in the second quarter and Bennett County led 16-0 at the break. The two teams traded possessions but did not score in the third before Ryder Byerley had a 24 touchdown run as Bennett County went 3-3 on two point conversions leading 24-0. Bryant Zeeb would have the lone score of the night for Stanley County, late in the fourth quarter on a 4th and 1 QB sneak, but the two point try was unsuccessful keeping it a three score game. The Warriors were able to ice the game methodically picking up first downs to finish out the game improving to 2-1 on the season.
Stanley County will get an extra day this week as the Buffs will travel to face Lead-Deadwood on Saturday with a 7:00 Central time kickoff.
