The Pierre Governors and Yankton Bucks meet in week two of the season as both teams come in at 1-0 with an hour later kickoff as the two rivals look for an early season win.
Both the Governors and Bucks scored 40 plus points in their opening win as Pierre ran past Sturgis 42-6 while Yankton would get a running clock win over Aberdeen Central 48-11. Both offenses will be put to the test tonight. However, Yankton had just 237 yards of offense in the win while the Governors were less than 10 yards shy of 500 in the win. While Yankton graduated quite a bit from last year’s team, Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors says, they’re still similar to what the Yankton Bucks want to do, especially offensively…
The Governor offense wants to continue the output from last week and Steele says he wants the team to get a faster start than Saturday. However, the defense side will be a little different. The Govs had plenty of moving pieces last Saturday with over 20 guys recording a tackle. Getting the subs in on the high powered offense, Steele says it will have to be more on schedule…
Steele says the battle of the line of scrimmage is big tonight…
Coverage tonight begins one hour later at 7:30 with kickoff at 8:00 from Crane-Youngworth Field in Yankton on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
