PIERRE, (KCCR) — A long time South Dakota civil servant has been called up to the Governor’s Office. South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden has added current Department of Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman as a senior advisor to his administration. Hultman has served in a number of leadership positions within the Department of Labor and Regulation for 17 years, before becoming Secretary in 2014. The change becomes effective September 14th. At that time, Kendra Ringstmeyer will become Interim Secretary for the Department of Labor and Regulation. Ringstmeyer has her own pedigree in state government. She currently is Director of Workforce Development and has been in the D-L-R for 15 years. Rhoden says Hultman will bring a new set of skills and expertise that will round out his policy team. Hultman is from Belle Fourche and was a teacher at Hot Springs, Custer and Rapid City before starting with state government in 1997. Rhoden Chief of Staff Mackenzie Decker says Hultman will bring needed strengths to the Governor’s office while leaving a capable team behind to meet South Dakota’s workforce needs.
