The Pierre Governor tennis team would split the two duals in Rapid City on Thursday as the Govs would beat Rapid City Central with a 9-0 shutout, but narrowly fall to Brandon Valley 5-4.
The duals move the Govs to 3-4 on the season as all nine flights would get the win in the first dual in the morning. Then in the second dual, Pierre almost had the win as Avery Schwartz and Ainsley Dilges lost 9-9, 7-5 in doubles flight three to be as close as you can get to flipping the score in favor of the Govs. Adrian Hand and Gemma Stangeland in doubles flight two would win against Brandon Valley while Eliza Mayer in singles flight two, Hand in flight three and Schwartz in flight four would all win against the Lynx. Hand would go 4-0 on the day as the best Governor. Mayer, who teamed up with Elise Bowers in doubles flight one along with Schwartz each would go 3-1 in the two duals. Emma Barnett would win 10-3 in singles flight six against Rapid City Central.
