The Chamberlain Cubs would knock off the Stanley County Lady Buffaloes in three sets winning 25-17, 25-22 and 25-9 in Chamberlain on Tuesday as both team’s season openers.
Stanley County would jump out to an early lead in the first set as Myla Keefe had the opening kill of the match, but Chamberlain would be able to overtake the Lady Buffs on hitting and serving errors from the Buffaloes along with kill shots to take the first set. Stanley County battled in the second set and had the game tied at 16 and then trailed just 22-21 late in the set, before the Cubs would score three of the last four points to take a 2-0 lead. Chamberlain’s run in the third set drove the Cubs to a sweep of the Lady Buffaloes dropping the Buffs in the first match of the season.
Stanley County will host both Bennett County and Wall this Saturday for a triangular for the first home games of the season. The triangular begins at 2:00 on Saturday at the Parkview Auditorium in Fort Pierre.
