The Stanley County Buffaloes football team will open the 2026 season on the road tonight with a trip to Bon Homme to face the Cavaliers in a 9AA matchup.
The Buffaloes went 3-5 last season, one spot short of making the 9AA playoffs. This year, the schedule remains tough for the Buffs who open up against the Cavaliers went 7-3 last year making the 9AA quarterfinals, falling to Parkston as the six seed. The Cavs graduate six seniors from last year’s team. Meanwhile, Stanley County is turning to a new starting quarterback and running back with Bryant Zeeb and Witt Myers. Stanley County graduated seven from last year’s team which also includes most of its receiving core, but quite a bit of the line returns on both sides of the ball.
