The Pierre Governor soccer teams are right back on the pitch today after its opening game two days ago as the Govs host the Watertown Arrows in a boys and girls doubleheader.
The Governor boys will play first again and the Govs will look for its first win of the year, but will face a stout Watertown squad who is already 3-0 on the season. The Arrows offense has been prolific as Watertown has outscored its opponents 16-1 in the first three games. A 4-1 win over Stevens, 7-0 win over Rapid City Central and the Arrows just beat Brandon Valley 5-0 on Tuesday. This will be the first road game though for Watertown now, but the Govs will have its hands full two days after a seeing a potent offense in Jefferson. The Govs were shutout 5-0 on Tuesday.
For the Governor girls, they will see a 2-1 Watertown team who just knocked off Brandon Valley 4-1 on Tuesday. The only loss for the Arrows is a 5-3 loss to Stevens. Just like the boys team for Watertown, the Arrow girls have scored a plethora of goals in the first three games with 14 while giving up just six with five in one game. Pierre had three goals from three different players as Cameron Larson, Lexie Hillmer and Devyn Van Roekel all scored for the Govs.
The doubleheader begins with the boys kicking off at 4:00 and the girls game to follow all at the PILC Fields. Pierre will travel to Sioux Falls to face Sioux Falls Christian on Saturday for the three game week.
