The Pierre Governor golf team finished out its first day of the golf season as the team finished in 13th place, just 15 shots back of a top five team finish with Caleb Hutton finishing the best for Pierre.
In the first of a two day event, Hutton would finish nine over par 79 tying for 33rd, but being just nine shots back of the leader, Asher Dannenbring who was one under par and the clubhouse leader after day one. He was the only player under par while Trevor Rick of Jefferson would be the only other play to not be over par as he was even 71. Beckham McPeck is 10 shots back of the lead going nine over par, 80. Matthew Eberhard would finish day one at 10 over par, 81 while both Rigley Kulesa and Tate Stoeser being at 13 over par, 84 and Josh Luidahl rounding out the six with a 90. All six golfers had a birdie on the day.
As a team, Pierre would be 40 over par, 324, 15 shots back of Washington and Harrisburg for fifth place. Lincoln and Brandon Valley are tied for first after the first day at 13 over par, 297. Brookings and Yankton are tied for third at 24 over par, 308.
Day two of the invite begins at 8:30 this morning at Willow Run Golf Course in Sioux Falls. The GGID is B26WLI.
