KENNEBEC, (KCCR) — Work will begin next week on a section of South Dakota Highway 248 that will require that highway to go under a full closure. The South Dakota Department of Transportation recently discovered damage to an existing box culvert under the highway’s surface approximately two miles east of Kennebec. Repairing the damaged box culvert is expected to take less than a week, but it will require a closure to through traffic. A six-mile section of the highway between Kennebec and Lyman will be closed during the work. Local traffic will still be allowed in the closure area but through traffic will have to detour around the work. One of those detour routes is the use of Interstate 90 from Exit 235 at Kennebec to Exit 241 at Lyman.
