The Stanley County Buffaloes wouldn’t need the lights on at Ole Williamson Field for its first practice Thursday morning, but for the second year, the Buffs begin its season on the beautiful turf field.
Stanley County finished at 3-5 last season, was the first team outside of the playoffs in 9AA, and graduated eight from last year’s team. This year, plenty of guys return with varsity experience, although still are young being sophomores and juniors. Skill positions will look different for Stanley County with a new quarterback and running back getting the bulk of the work. Bryant Zeeb is looking to take over the quarterback duties and Witt Myers will extend his carries and use out of the backfield. There will be new receivers and a few new lineman to move into starting roles. Zeeb says he’s excited for the season to get going…

While this is the second year of the turf, it was the first full summer of having the turf field and Foth says it’s been an awesome summer to take advantage of the field…
Stanley County will open the season on Friday, August 21 against Bon Homme on the road. The Buffs will have its home opener the following Friday, August 28 hosting Hill City.
