PIERRE, (KCCR) — Another central South Dakota crash has led to fatality and in the latest instance, it’s more than one. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says two people died in a single vehicle crash on South Dakota Highway 63 approximately 21 miles south of Belvidere. The crash took place around 5:15 Wednesday night. According to preliminary information released by the Highway Patrol, a 2001 Toyota Tundra pickup was driving north on Highway 63 when the vehicle lost control on the washboarded surface and entered the ditch. The crash caused all three occupants to be thrown clear of the vehicle. Two of the three occupants were killed in the crash. They include a 20 year-old woman from Bend, Oregon and a 37 year-old male from Olympia, Washington. A 29 year-old female from Redmond, Oregon was transferred to the Rosebud Hospital with life-threatening injuries. None of the three individuals involved was using a restraint system. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family.
