PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of two teenagers involved in a fatal rollover crash south of Scenic in Pennington County. The crash happened Monday around eight a-m near Bombing Range Road and Sheep Mountain Road, approximately four-and-a-half miles south of Scenic. Preliminary crash investigation information indicates 18 year-old Kristina Yellowhawk of Wall was driving a 2008 Chevy Impala at the time of the crash. The Impala left the road surface for an undisclosed reason. Yellowhawk attempted to correct the situation, but lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rollover. Yellowhawk was killed in the crash. Her passenger, 19 year-old Patrick Little Moon, Junior of Pierre sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries and was transported for care to Monument Health Rapid City hospital. Both were not using seat belts. Yellowhawk is the third South Dakota teenager drive to have lost their life in the last seven days. A 16 year-old teenager from Highmore was killed Wednesday in a train/vehicle crash in Wessington and 19 year-old Jaxon Jungwirth of Pierre was killed Sunday night in a rollover crash in southwest North Dakota.
