It would be mixed results for the South Dakota Legion Baseball state tournament on Tuesday to open the tournament as the higher seeds would win the first and last game of the day and the lower seeds taking the two middle games.
Sioux Falls West would dominate to an 8-0 win over Harrisburg to start the day as Caden Voss and Kyler Boyd threw a combined complete game shutout. Then the five seed Brookings would get a complete game one hit shutout from Nolan Krogman to beat Brandon Valley 3-0 in the second game. Brandon Valley’s only hit was a infield single on a high chopper off the plate. Rapid City Post 320 was excellent offensively to a 9-0 win over Yankton. Rapid City Post 22 jumped out to an early lead and beat Watertown 10-2 to finish out day one.
Harrisburg, Yankton, Brandon Valley and Watertown will all try to stave off elimination on Wednesday while Sioux Falls West, Rapid City Post 320, Brookings and Rapid City Post 22 will look to get to the winner’s bracket championship game to be played on Thursday.
