PIERRE, (KCCR) — An Eagle Butte man has been sentenced for injuring a woman with a weapon. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says 29 year-old Trevin Antonio was sentenced by U-S District Court Judge Eric Schulte to three and a half years in federal prison and three years of supervised release following the prison term on a charge of Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Antonio was indicted in October of 2025 and pleaded guilty in early April of this year. Parsons says Antonio assaulted the woman in Eagle Butte on July 31st of last year. The victim suffered severe lacerations to her face during the assault the resulted in hospitalization. The U-S Attorney’s Office handled the case by way of the Major Crimes Act, a federal law mandating certain violent crimes alleged to have happened in Indian Country be handed in the federal court system instead of the state court system. Antonio was taken by the U-S Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
