The Oahe Zap have to be road warriors in the playoffs and on Monday they would take game one of the best-of-three wild card series with a 6-4 win beating the Casper Spuds with three runs in the top of the ninth.
Oahe was trailing into the top of the ninth, 4-3 but a costly error from the Spuds would tie the game before Quinn Ludvigsen would have the go ahead hit to make it 5-4 and a passed ball extended the lead to two. Brady Glenn would close out the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning as the longest tenured Zap would get the win on the mound and ice in his veins to pick up the first game win. Glenn allowed just one walk and had two strikeouts over two and one third innings in relief of Pierce Hollowell who allowed the four runs, but two unearned over six and two thirds innings. Gage Dickerson had the biggest hit for the Spuds, hitting a solo homer in the seventh which gave the Spuds the lead, but couldn’t hold on to it. Blake Imhoff, Emmanuel Ealey and Gavin Fraser each had RBIs in the win with Connor Goldberg picking three hits. Oahe had 15 hits and left 12 on base as their offense continues to fire, but struggled to drive in the runs in the first game.
The Zap will look for the sweep of the Wild Card series on Tuesday as Casper continues to host. First pitch of game two is scheduled for 7:30 Central Time.
