Pierre Post 8 13/14 would be unstoppable this weekend in Mitchell running away to the state championship title beating everybody by at least 10 runs through the entire tournament to claim the crown.
Pierre would go 5-0 on the weekend starting with a 15-1 win early Friday morning as Graham Hunsley, trey Linn, Stratton Ludemann and Noah Lathrop each drove in two runs in the first game win. Carter Dokken and Liam Auble combined for the five inning win. Pierre would clinch the top seed to the bracket with a win on Saturday 14-1 over Brookings White as Henry Janes would lead the team to three RBIs while Beau Merkwan had two doubles and two RBIs along with Lofton Moody and Gavin Lachnit driving in two. Merkwan would throw for the four inning win allowing one run on three hits.
It would lead to an 11-1 win over Watertown in the quarterfinals Saturday night as Peter DeHueck had three RBIs as he along with Merkwan, Ludemann and Linn all doubled and Hunsley would triple. Ludemann allowed just one run on one hit over four innings to advance to the semifinals.
The hitting continued into Sundasy as Pierre would beat Harrisburg Black 14-4 in four innings as Ludemann would have four RBIs with a double while Moody drove in two runs. DeHeuck and Blake Hansen got through the four innings with Hansen not allowing a hit in the final four outs.
In the championship against Sioux Falls, Pierre jumped out to a 5-0 first inning and scored six runs in the second and again would win in four innings with the 11-0 victory as Hunsley would throw the complete game shutout as Janes and DeHueck would double and Linn would triple. Lathrop would have three RBIs in the championship game.
Pierre will finish the season at 26-10-2 on the season as the 13/14 would win the Kirley tournament and the state tournament.
