The Pierre Post 8 Jr. Legion will also need to win both games on Thursday after a 6-3 loss to Brandon Valley Red in Brandon on Wednesday in the first game of the best-of-three series.
Brandon Valley took advantage of two first inning errors to score four runs leading 4-0 after the first. Pierre would get a run off an error in the second and Kaden Goodlander would get the only RBI in the game for Pierre being hit by a pitch making it a 4-2 game in the third. However Brandon Valley would get a run in the fourth and fifth innings to take the 6-3 lead, holding off the Eights in the first game. Pierre had just four hits as Tucker Swenson went 3-4 with a double while Goodlander also doubled in the loss. Maddox Dokken would go the distance on the mount giving up six runs, only two earned on seven hits with three walks and four strikeouts. BV Red was led by Tata Carda’s two RBIs and Keeeton Elder going 3-3 at the plate.
The Jr. Legion will have to win both games on Thursday in Valley Springs to advance to the state tournament. First pitch is at 11:00 AM Thursday morning with if necessary game three to follow.
