The team Pierre Post 8 ended the South Dakota regular season playing against is their opponent in the playoffs as Watertown Post 17 will come to Pierre for a best-of-three playoff series with a unique first game time.
Because of scheduling and the Zap playing tonight, Pierre and Watertown will start its series this afternoon with a matinee before playing again Thursday afternoon in the usual timing. Pierre, at 15-10 in the South Dakota season won two close games against Watertown 4-3 and 4-1 taking advantage of Watertown’s mistakes. Watertown finished at 12-12 in South Dakota games and are 34-23 from the spring to summer games as both teams are trying to make the state tournament in the spring and summer seasons in the 7-10 matchup. Pierre finished the South Dakota season winning 11 of the last 13 South Dakota games and went 15-4 after starting the season at 0-6. Watertown started at 6-2 before going 6-10 the rest of the way. Both teams though are evenly matched and the pitching matchups will be great. The winner of the series will head to Rapid City where Post 22 is hosting the state tournament which begins next week Tuesday.
