FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Fort Pierre is now under mandatory water conservation measures for West River/Lyman Jones Rural Water users. West River/Lyman Jones Rural Water System released a statement Tuesday noting that due to quote ongoing severe drought conditions, the water system is operating at max capacity. The mandatory outdoor watering restrictions are in effect immediately and will state in effect until September 30th. Outdoor watering under the restrictions is permitted from eight pm to eight am. Even-numbered addresses are permitted to water on even-numbered days and the same for odd-numbered addresses on odd-numbered days. No outdoor watering is permitted on the 31st of any month. There is an exception for manual watering with a handheld hose, bucket or watering can. The measures do not impact household use or livestock watering. Similar mandatory outdoor watering restrictions are in place for the Kadoka Rural and Grindstone service areas for West River/Lyman Jones customers.
