The Oahe Zap would be looking for the four game sweep of the Spearfish Sasquatch on Wednesday, but the Sasquatch found its groove offensively turning up a 19-0 win to salvage a game in the series.
After Oahe outscored Spearfish 25-7 in the first three games of the series, Spearfish was determined to not be swept and put up a good offensive day. They started with a 3-0 lead in the first before making it 7-0 in the second and added a six run fourth inning to lead 14-0. Another two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh gave Spearfish all kinds of room for error to win by the 10 run rule, but the pitching staffed delivered a two hit shutout as Cy Taylor and Ty Farwell had the only two hits of the game. Spearfish took advantage of five errors to score 12 unearned runs as three different pitchers battled against the odds. In all, Spearfish had 13 hits, but only one double in the game, but Bo Iandoli and Grant Sommers each had three RBIs while Malakai Lopez, Braden Smith, Wilson Kieffer, Zach Pearrow and Garrett Houston had two RBIs as seven of the nine hitters had multiple RBIs in the win for Spearfish. The win clinches the Sasquatch a spot in the Independence League Championship Series as they look for back-to-back titles. Casper would beat the Bison 12-2 and go two and a half games up on the Zap.
Oahe starts a massive four game series with the Casper Spuds on Thursday trying to jump ahead of the Spuds with just 10 games to play. All four games are out in Casper with first pitch at 7:30 Central time tonight.
