The South Dakota United U16 Soccer squad will be in Denver, Colorado beginning next week competing at the National Cup in the Premier Division with three guaranteed games as six members come from the Pierre Governors.
Aubrey Fischer, Brittany Sargent, Cameron Larson, Josephine Wurtz, Myah Fravel and goalie Emyln Swanson will be in Denver for the National Cup for South Dakota United. The U16 squad would win the Midwest championship in Chicago back on June 19-22. In the five games played at the Midwest Regionals, SDU Spirit would allow just one goal in the 2-1 win in the second game. They would finish the tournament outscoring their opponents 9-1 going 5-0 with four shutouts.
Coming up this next week, South Dakota United Spirit will have three games for its six team pool play and the SDU will have to be one of the top two teams to advance to the championship game. SDU will play Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with the championship game scheduled for Friday. SDU will play its first game at 1:30 Central Time on Monday against Arlington, Texas. Then on Tuesday, the Spirit will play at 1:30 Central Time against Athens, Georgia before closing out its last guaranteed game at 1:30 on Wednesday against Sporting Iowa. The other two teams in which SDU won’t play will be Desert Communities Soccer Club of California and NPSA WW Surf out of Washington. The championship game is scheduled for Friday at 9:30 AM Central Time.
