PIERRE, (KCCR) — The federal Bureau of Land Management has implemented Stage Two Fire Restrictions on B-L-M lands in Haakon, Stanley and Ziebach Counties. Also included in the Stage Two restrictions are B-L-M land in Butte, Custer, Fall River, Harding, Lawrence, Meade, Pennington and Perkins Counties. The restrictions became effective Wednesday and will remain in effect until rescinded. Those restrictions include building, maintaining attending or using camp or fire; smoking, unless inside an enclosed vehicle; inside a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area with at least three feet of barren area cleared of possible fuels. Certain activity is banned under the restrictions from one-pm to one-am. They includes any operation of an internal combustion engine, welding or use of acetylene torches with open flame; explosive use or operating motorized vehicles off of designated roads or trails. A one-hour, active foot patrol with appropriate fire tools is required near work sites following the end of any work previously described.
