The start time on Sunday was pushed back two hours because of the heat, but the Oahe Zap would drop its game to the Bison 14-8 taking two of three in the second straight series against the Bison.
The Bison had back-to-back five run innings in the third and fourth and led 10-3 through four. The lead would hold up until the seventh when Oahe scored twice to get within five. However, a four run eighth inning did in the Zap for the contest as they couldn’t make the nine run comeback and the four errors committed by the Bison. Dominic DeCarlo, Ty Farwell, Connor Goldberg, Dane Gilber, Gavin Fraser and Quinn Ludvigsen each had an RBI in the loss for Oahe. Gilbert and Farwell each had a double. Pierre’s Ridge Leimbach would give up the ten runs in three and a third innings on six hits with seven walks and five strikeouts. Oahe used three more pitchers the rest of the way as they started 16 straight games on Friday. There won’t be any more off days the rest of the season for Oahe so the pitching staff will have to be efficient each and every outing.
Heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, Oahe is two games back of the Casper Spuds for second place in the Independence League trying to make the championship series. The Zap begin a three game series at home against the Spearfish Sasquatch tonight. First pitch is 6:05 tonight.
