The Oahe Zap are back in action today after a three day break having won six of the last seven and 10 of the last 12 and will face the Bison baseball team again with a three game series with Saturday’s game in Mitchell.
The Zap have gone to 14-17 on the season and have put themselves back into the conversation to be in the Independence League championship series cutting the deficit close to the Casper Spuds who beat the Bison on Tuesday and are two and a half games ahead of the Zap in the standings with just over two weeks remaining in the regular season. Oahe does not have another scheduled off day the remainder of the summer, but it gives the Zap ample opportunity to get in front of the Spuds to reach the championship series. In the final 16 games, the Zap will be at home for nine of those 16 games. One of those road games will be in a new place as the Zap will face the Bison on Saturday at Cadwell Park in Mitchell. It’s a test run to bring in a crowd for Mitchell to watch the Independence League in action to potentially have the Bison located in Mitchell or at least have an Independence League team located in Mitchell. Friday and Sunday’s games will still be at Hyde Stadium.
First pitch tonight is at 6:05 with first pitch Saturday also at 6:05 but in Mitchell. Sunday’s first pitch is at 5:05 back at Hyde Stadium in Pierre.
