PIERRE, (KCCR) — A two-vehicle crash in Lyman County has killed a Reliance woman. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened Thursday evening around 6:45 p-m on South Dakota Highway 248, two miles east of Lyman. Highway 248 runs parallel to Interstate 90. A preliminary investigation of the crash shows a Suzuki mini-truck was traveling south on 324th Avenue at the same time a Freightliner semi-truck was westbound on Highway 248. The driver of the Suzuki, a 63 year-old female from Reliance, failed to stop and drove into the path of the Freightliner. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. The Freightliner driver is a 57 year-old male from Chamberlain. He received minor injuries and was transported to Sanford Chamberlain Medical Center. The names of the drivers are being withheld pending notification of family.
