The first step to Williamsport, Pennsylvania begins today for the Capital City Little League out of Pierre as the All-Stars will play its first game against defending state champion Sioux Falls or Harney Little League in Rapid City.
It’s day two of the State Tournament, but the first day only saw one game with the other postponed because of rain. Pierre will play the night cap against either Sioux Falls Little League or Harney Little League who will play at 4:00 Central Time today. Brandon Valley beat Canyon Lake 15-9 in the only game played on Tuesday. It’s a double elimination format with the championship potentially needing the if necessary game to determine the state champion and advance to Whitestown, Indiana beginning on Friday, August 7. Canyon Lake is this year’s host with a six team tournament with Oglala Little League and Pierre having first game byes. If Pierre is able to win tonight they will be just one win away from the state championship, but with a loss they will have to win Thursday, Friday, Saturday and two games on Sunday to win the state title. This year’s team is showcased by Ryan Alexander, Beckett Allen, Adler Bastian, Cameron Bernhard, Jase Blair, Beckett Edson, Hudson Hackett, Bodie Hand, Joshua Hegge, Bridger Johnson, Gabe Oedekoven and Jett Stroup.
Pierre will take on the winner of Sioux Falls and Harney with first pitch scheduled for approximately 8:00 Central Time with Oglala Little League facing Brandon Valley in the second game of the day starting at 6:00 Central Time. Sioux Falls and Harney start at 4:00.
