Just about a month ago, the track and field season came to an end at the state competition in Sioux Falls. The Pierre Governor girls finish with three All-State times wrapping up a successful season.
For the Governor girls, Charlee Williams-Smith in the 100 and 400 meter runs while the relay team of Williams-Smith, Aubrey Fischer, Emlyn Swanson and Zoey Bauer would get an All-State finish in the 4×200 relay. To be All-State you must be one of the top eight times or distances across all three classes. It’s the first year of this All-State lists as senior Williams-Smith makes it on there three times and Misty Larson says it’s a tough list to get on to and she says Williams-Smith had a great career in Pierre…
Larson says they are losing a lot of leaders from the seniors but the future still is bright for the Govs…
But looking at the 2026 season as a whole, Larson says it was a successful season…
The Pierre girls finished in ninth place as a team at the state meet this year with 35 points overall with four top five finishes and 10 top 10 finishes.
