PIERRE, (KCCR) — The City of Pierre is accepting Letters of Interest from residents wanting to serve on the Pierre City Commission. Those wishing to send a letter of interest must be a U-S citizen, a registered voter within the city and have been a Pierre resident for at least three years. Whoever is selected will serve as a Commissioner until the next municipal election in June of 2027. That person will then be able to file petitions to run again to retain the seat for a regular, three-year term. Letters will be submitted to Human Resource Director Laurie Grolund, who will provide them to the Mayor and City Commission. Letters should include a candidates interest in serving the city and any relevant experience. Letters must be submitted to the Human Resource Office at the Pierre Municipal Building by five-p-m on July 6th. Commissioners currently receive an annual salary of just over 20-thousand dollars per year. The Commission seat to be filled is that of Todd Johnson.
