Pierre Post 8 will start a stretch of five straight home doubleheaders spanning the next two weeks as the Eights will host Spearfish Post 164 today in late afternoon doubleheader.
The Eights are coming off one of its highest scoring doubleheaders of the season with 20 runs over two games, but splitting the doubleheader against Rapid City Post 320. Pierre moved to 5-8 in South Dakota games which also started seven straight doubleheaders against South Dakota opponents. Post 164 is coming in at 3-5 in South Dakota games after sweeping Sturgis by the 10 run rule in both games on Wednesday. After playing Belle Fourche on Thursday, Spearfish is coming to town to round out a busy week of seven games from Monday to Friday. In the eight South Dakota games, Spearfish is hitting .278 as a team but Walker Viessman is hitting .500 with 12 hits. Spearfish has a win over Post 320, who they split the doubleheader with at home back on May 29. Pierre’s hitting .273 in South Dakota games but are slugging better than Spearfish in those games. The next 12 games are very important for the Eights as all will go on the season standings.
