The annual State High School Rodeo Finals are back in its home place as Fort Pierre will host this week’s state finals running from Tuesday through Saturday at the Stanley County Fairgrounds with the awards being on Sunday.
Starting on Tuesday, the rodeo queen contestant interviews with horsemanship will start the high school rodeo finals. Then the queen contestants will have speeches and modeling at the Casey Tibbs Center. To wrap up the first day, it will be the first go-round with girls and boys cutting and then first go around for reined cow horse. Wednesday will see the championship round of girls and boys cutting along with reined cow horse starting at 4:00. On Thursday, the Monument Health Cancer Awareness Pink Rodeo Performance will take place at 9:00 AM and then the Military and First Responder appreciation Rodeo Performance at 5:00 with the trap shooting contest at Willow Creek Wildlife at 1:00. The Rifle shooting contest will be at Willow Creek at 1:00 on Friday. The Michael Glynn Memorial Coalition Memorial Rodeo performance will take place Friday morning at 9:00. The crowning of the Queen will take place at 4:30 and the Fort Pierre Chamber of Commerce Rodeo performance will finish out Friday night at 5:00. Awards ceremony for the calendar, scholarships, new student officers and memorials will be at 1:00 on Saturday and the Macksteel Farm and Ranch Equipment Championship Performance will be at 4:00 to round out the Finals. Sunday at 8:30 will be the awards and breakfast for all state award winners and families.
