PIERRE, (KCCR) — In response to drought across South Dakota, South Dakota State University Extension is conducting drought meeting across the state. All three meeting, including one in Winner are being conducted simultaneously with meetings in Hot Springs and Yankton. Extension Forage Field Specialist Kim Ricardo say it will take much of the day….
The meetings are free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged. Livestock and stock dam water samples can be brought for a rapid on-site testing. Forage can also be brought for testing. As of last week, only 21-percent of South Dakota is drought free with 78-percent abnormally dry; 67-percent in moderate; 50 percent severe and 22-percent in extreme drought. Two-percent of the state is in exceptional drought.
