For the first time in four games, the Capital City Aviators would get a win against an Independence League as the Oahe Zap would fall at home 7-6 Thursday night to split the two game series.
The Aviators led 2-0 after two and 4-3 after four innings. However, Oahe would score a run in the fifth, sixth and seventh and led 6-5 through seven innings. But again, a two out single in the top of the eighth would tie the game and a passed ball would allow the go-ahead and winning run to score to take a 7-6 lead. Oahe would get the two men on base in each of the eighth and ninth innings, but could not get any runs to score. Cy Taylor would drive in two runs for the Zap while Ty Farwell, Domenic DeCarlo and Dillon Bowie each had an RBI in the loss while Landon Meyer and DeCarlo each had two hits. The pitching staff had three unearned runs in the loss as the defense had four errors for the Zap. Pierce Hollowell would pick up the loss on the mound as he gave up the two runs, one earned in the eighth inning. The Zap have fallen to 4-12 on the season.
Oahe will have a week off now and will not play again until a trip to Spearfish where they start a two game trip on Thursday before coming home on Saturday and Sunday June 20-21 to face the Sasquatch.
