This weekend, athletes from around the state will gather in Aberdeen for the state tournament of the South Dakota High School Clay Target League which runs Friday through Sunday.
Starting on Friday, the Skeet Shooting state tournament will take place and teams will compete on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Lyman and Stanley County will get a chance to shoot on Friday with Lyman starting at 9:45 AM and Stanley County starting at 12:45. Session 2 begins immediately after the last team’s squad on each field completes session 1 and session 2 repeats the same exact schedule of order as session 1. Pierre will start at 9:45 Saturday morning and go through 10:30 with each athlete shooting at 50 targets per session.
On Saturday, the trap shooting begins for Class 1A as Gettysburg will shoot at 8:00 and 8:30 AM. Lyman will start its first round of shooting at 10:00 and will shoot at 10:30, 11:00 and 11:30. The same format will go again on Saturday with the first session completing and the second session beginning with the schedule following the same order as session 1.
On Sunday, Pierre will shoot its trap starting at 8:00 AM for Class 2A. Pierre will have field 11 all the way 11:30 before Elk Point will have one group to shoot before session two roles through the same schedule again. One group for Pierre will be on field 10.
