PIERRE, (KCCR) — A number of county-level races were decided during Tuesday’s primary election in South Dakota. In Brule County, the only race was for a County Commission seat, which was taken by James Ketelhut. Ketelhut defeated Steve Olsen 134 to 44 for 75-25 margin. A county commission and county finance officer race were up for grabs in Buffalo County. Deb Morrison beat Susan Hoarty for County Finance Officer 98 to 68 while Donita Loundner bested Rick Wooledge, Jr. for County Commission District Three 49-14. The only race in Hand County saw Shelby Wieseler defeating Luke Wernsmann for the District Five County Commission seat 112 to 70. Incumbents won three area Sheriff races. Rich Sylva won in Jones County 227 to 103 over Kyle Kumm while Curt Hamburger grilled Josh Zweber 668 to 170. In Tripp County Shawn Pettit easily won re-election with a 1273 to 331 margin against Dave Baker. A county auditor race in Lyman County saw Misti Ramser downing Abby Martin 353 to 181. We’ll have results for Tripp and Todd Counties Friday.
